Who gets a free America the Beautiful pass
Not everyone has to pay $80. Four groups can get an America the Beautiful pass for free — with the same entrance and day-use coverage as the paid pass.
Military & veterans
Current U.S. military members and their dependents get a free annual Military Pass with a valid military ID. Veterans and Gold Star Families also receive free access to federal recreation sites — show a valid form of veteran ID.
Access Pass (permanent disability)
U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a permanent disability qualify for a free lifetime Access Pass. You’ll need documentation of the disability. It also provides discounts on some expanded amenity fees like camping.
4th Grade Pass
Every U.S. 4th grader (and homeschool/age-equivalent student) can get a free annual pass through Every Kid Outdoors. Get the voucher at everykidoutdoors.gov and exchange it for a pass. Valid the whole school year, September through August.
Volunteer Pass
Volunteers who log 250 service hours with participating federal agencies earn a free annual Volunteer Pass.
