Terms of Service
Last updated July 6, 2026
Passlands (the “Service”) is operated by CV Management Solutions, LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using Passlands, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Please read the disclaimer. Passlands is an independent, unofficial reference. Information about pass acceptance, fees, hours, and access can be wrong or out of date. Always confirm with the managing agency before you travel, pay a fee, or rely on anything here.
1. What Passlands is
Passlands is a free informational reference that aggregates and interprets publicly available data to estimate whether the America the Beautiful — National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass is honored at a given site, along with a confidence level and sources. It is not an official service of, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by, the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Department of the Interior, or any other government agency.
2. No warranty; accuracy is not guaranteed
The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Fees, pass acceptance, operating hours, closures, reservation requirements, and site conditions change frequently and vary by season and location. Our confidence tiers (“Confirmed,” “Likely,” “Check”) are our good-faith assessment, not a guarantee. You are solely responsible for verifying current information with the managing agency before you travel, purchase a pass, pay any fee, or otherwise rely on the Service.
3. Assumption of risk
Outdoor recreation on public lands is inherently dangerous and involves risks including injury or death. You are solely responsible for your own safety, preparation, and compliance with all laws, regulations, and agency rules. Passlands does not provide safety, routing, weather, or trail-condition guidance, and nothing here should be relied on for those purposes.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CV Management Solutions, LLC and its members, officers, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, or for any damages whatsoever arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including, without limitation, denied entry, fees paid, wasted travel, missed reservations, fines, property damage, personal injury, or reliance on any information provided — whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
5. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CV Management Solutions, LLC and its members, officers, and contributors from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the Service in a way that burdens our infrastructure or third-party providers;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any third-party rights;
- attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service; or
- misrepresent Passlands as an official government source.
7. Intellectual property & third-party data
The Passlands name, design, and original text are owned by CV Management Solutions, LLC. Underlying data and imagery come from third parties (including the National Park Service, Recreation.gov, OpenStreetMap, and Wikimedia Commons) and remain subject to their respective licenses and terms — see our Data & attribution page. Government links and marks belong to their respective owners.
8. Third-party links and services
The Service links to and loads content from third-party sites and services. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or practices. Your use of those services is governed by their terms.
9. Changes
We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue, to the extent permitted by law.
