Privacy Policy

Passlands is operated by CV Management Solutions, LLC. The short version: we don’t have accounts, we don’t track you, and everything you save stays on your own device. Here are the details.

Information we do not collect

• No accounts. There is no sign-up, login, or profile.
• No server-side personal data. We do not collect, store, or sell your name, email, contacts, or browsing history on our servers.
• No advertising and no third-party analytics or trackers.

Location

If you tap “Use my location” or “Near me,” your browser asks your permission and provides your approximate coordinates to your device only. We use them locally to find nearby sites and show distances. Your location is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and a copy may be stored in your browser’s local storage so the app can show distances until you clear it. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your browser settings.

Saved sites & on-device storage

When you save a site, its details are stored in your browser using IndexedDB. Your last known location is stored in your browser’s localStorage. This information lives only on your device, is never uploaded to us, and you can remove it at any time from the Saved page (“Clear all”) or by clearing your browser data.

Hosting & logs

Passlands is a static site hosted by Vercel. Like virtually all websites, Vercel’s infrastructure may automatically process standard technical request data (such as IP address, timestamp, and user-agent) for security, performance, and operational purposes as our hosting processor. We do not use this data to identify or profile you. See Vercel’s privacy documentation for details.

Third-party content

To keep the app fast and free, some content loads directly from third-party servers when you use Passlands. As with any web request, those providers receive your IP address and basic request data:

• Map tiles from OpenStreetMap.
• Photos from Wikimedia Commons and the National Park Service (nps.gov).

Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.

Cookies

Passlands does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. We rely only on essential on-device storage (IndexedDB / localStorage described above) to make features like Saved and distances work.

Children

Passlands is a general-audience reference and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

• Clear saved sites and location anytime via the Saved page or by clearing your browser storage.
• Deny or revoke location permission in your browser at any time.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes are reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
